The Placeholder Image Generator creates dynamic PNG images on demand using a simple URL. Set width, height, background color, text color, and a custom message — ideal for mockups, wireframes, banners, and development placeholders.
Pick a size preset, or choose Custom and type WIDTHxHEIGHT.
Pick background and text colors with the color pickers or HEX fields.
Enter optional overlay text (defaults to the dimensions).
Toggle the toolkit.mk watermark if allowed by site settings.
Copy the shareable URL, open a preview, or download the PNG.
Drop a colored placeholder into Figma, HTML, or CMS templates before final artwork is ready.
Use IAB presets (Leaderboard, Medium Rectangle, Skyscraper) to validate layouts.
Share a URL that always returns the same image for teammates or clients.
Point <img src> to the API while building UI without hosting temporary assets.
Keep text short so it stays readable on small banners.
Use high-contrast color pairs (light text on dark backgrounds).
Append wm=0 to the URL to hide the watermark when the site allows it.
Cache-friendly URLs work well in CDNs and browser caches.
Premium tools require an account and an active subscription once billing is enabled. Until then, this tool remains usable for testing.
PNG is returned by the API for crisp, lossless placeholders.
